PROJECT OVERVIEW
The owners of this garden in Ferndown decided it was time to replace their ageing interlocking timber log cabin, they had a clear vision: a fresh, contemporary space for entertaining friends and relaxing in comfort.
The result is a 6.5m x 6m bespoke garden room that’s a world away from the structure it replaced. Finished in low-maintenance exterior cladding, with large bi-fold doors and a striking picture window, this is a garden room designed for enjoyment—inside and out.
One of the things that sets us apart is how we handle every stage of the build in-house. From the initial design conception through to final decoration, our team manages everything – including electrical connections, plastering, and painting – leaving clients with a fully finished building that’s ready to move into and enjoy.
In this project, we replaced a tired log cabin with a contemporary, insulated garden room tailored to the client’s lifestyle. The client wanted something truly bespoke, with none of the restrictions that come with standard sizes or limited finish options.
The new building is clad in composite cladding in Boothbay Blue – a smart and durable choice that needs little upkeep and brings a modern, coastal feel to the garden. It’s paired with dark grey trims and a large set of aluminium bi-fold doors that open out onto a generous decked area – ideal for summer entertaining.
The new building is far removed from the timber structure it replaced (see photo to the side). Inside, it features the same level of finish you’d expect to find in a well-specified house – plastered and decorated walls and ceiling, and a carefully considered electrical layout. Every finish has been meticulously detailed, creating a refined and comfortable space that’s a pleasure to spend time in.
Thanks to the mix of glazing, the room feels light and airy throughout the day. The owner has used furniture to define different areas within the space: a games zone with a pool table and dart board, a cosy TV lounge, and a conversational seating area with garden views through the large picture window – a feature that’s bound to be a talking point with guests.
A storage area has been discreetly incorporated into one corner of the room, offering a tidy place to keep boxes and other bits out of sight. It’s the kind of thoughtful detail that’s only possible when working with a company that offers a truly bespoke design service.
The bi-folding doors open onto a generous decked terrace with outdoor seating zones. On warmer days, the seamless connection between inside and out makes it easy to relax and entertain across both spaces – a great example of how garden rooms can truly enhance day-to-day living.
