PROJECT OVERVIEW

Creating a garden room that feels like it has always belonged within its surroundings takes careful planning, thoughtful design and exceptional attention to detail. This bespoke 6m x 4m garden room, completed in Lymington, is a perfect example of how a beautifully crafted building can become an integral part of a wider landscaping scheme.

Designed in collaboration with a local architect, we were selected to deliver the project thanks to our reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and our ability to tailor every building around the individual client’s requirements. The finished result is a sophisticated, contemporary garden room that perfectly complements its stunning new garden.

A Contemporary Design with a Difference

One of the most striking features of this project is its choice of light grey aluminium glazing. Whilst Anthracite Grey remains the most common choice for garden rooms, the lighter finish gives this building a softer, more architectural appearance that sits beautifully within the surrounding landscape.

The large sliding doors meet elegantly at the corner of the building, creating a dramatic glazed corner that floods the interior with natural light while framing uninterrupted views across the newly landscaped garden. The colour-matched aluminium corner post creates a seamless finish, allowing the glazing to become the focal point without overpowering the design.

A matching light grey personnel door provides discreet access to a separate storage room, while high-level rear windows in both rooms introduce natural ventilation without compromising the clean, minimalist appearance.

Natural Materials That Will Stand the Test of Time

Externally, the building is clad in Western Red Cedar, installed horizontally to emphasise the building’s long, clean lines. The warm cedar tones provide a beautiful contrast against the light grey aluminium, creating a timeless combination of natural and contemporary materials.

To preserve the cedar’s rich reddish-brown colouring, the timber has been treated with a UV-protective oil. With occasional maintenance, this finish will help retain the warmth of the timber while slowing its natural weathering to silver-grey.

The generous roof overhang further enhances the contemporary styling, whilst providing practical protection from the elements and subtle solar shading during the summer months.

Discreet exterior wall lights positioned either side of the sliding doors complete the clean architectural appearance and create an inviting ambience after dark.

Designed for Relaxation

Step inside and the attention to detail continues.

The main living space has been fully plastered and decorated to create a bright, welcoming room that’s equally suited to relaxing with a book, entertaining friends or simply enjoying the garden throughout the seasons.

A contemporary wood-effect floor, recessed LED lighting and a carefully considered electrical installation provide all the comforts of a modern living space, including:

• Air conditioning for year-round heating and cooling
• LED downlights
• Multiple power sockets
• Smoke alarm
• High-speed Wi-Fi connection

Large areas of glazing blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, allowing the surrounding planting and landscaped garden to become part of the room itself.

Practical Storage Hidden Away

Behind the matching external door is a dedicated storage room designed with practicality in mind.

Finished internally with durable OSB walls, ceiling and flooring, the space also benefits from recessed LED lighting and power sockets, making it ideal for storing outdoor furniture cushions, garden equipment and seasonal items while keeping the main room uncluttered.

The Perfect Finishing Touch to a Beautiful Garden

This project demonstrates how a garden room can become far more than simply an additional building. Working alongside the wider landscaping scheme, it creates a natural destination within the garden—a place to relax, entertain or simply enjoy the changing seasons.

The combination of contemporary architecture, premium materials and thoughtful detailing has resulted in a building that feels elegant, understated and completely at home within its surroundings.
